Friends,

Alright, to see things in ML i have got to these points:

1. Keyboard and font
      a) Which keyboard pleases you the most ? We must choose one.
      b) Which font pleases you the most? We must choose one.
Sticking different ( non-standard ) fonts into the O/s might move
characters about on the
keyboard causing us some problems.
      c) worst-case scenario, i can operate in perfect ( exact ) ML in
Roman text.
If you have not used such, some tutoring from me would be needed.

2. Getting ML up on the web-page so everyone can read it ( whether or
not they immediately
gear up with a font and a keyboard ).
      a) i can do it temporarily by providing a .gif graphic file.
Very small amount
in the proposal's first display draft.
      b) is anyone using a ( standard ) procedure ? ( i saw some
stuff on Kochi's site,
but being .pdf stuff i was not sure how they had generated it ).
      c) who then is your webmaster or "authorized" coordinator for the same ?
Of course only ONE site would be sufficient as we can go to that URL.

3. Can we get the sophistication of "indLinux" page on
source.forge.net with so many
options available ( on a local India server preferably ) ? Someone
may be interested
in doing a set up.
      a) who all might agree to have their machine ( or small portion
of it ) so that
we can be connected on a VPN ( virtual private network ) basis ?
      b) also on direct-connect basis ( phone to phone ) ?
      b) i can provide a "server" machine for Kochi or Linux at Delhi.
 But my annual
cost would be Rs.12,000/- or so minimum, and lots of headache
i don't need now.
It can be online all the time; but backups etc not guaranteed.

3. Can someone indicate the location, size / capability of your server ?
ie, owned by you ? Super-machine ? Regular back-ups ? Whatever
comes to your mind.
i don't know how nice it would be to have "smc" behavior where all the
links are invalid,
etc. Reliability is important.

You could e-mail me privately and i'll do the counts and report; or
send to the mail-list.

Those further interested in this project need to be ready for a major
cultural change.
All in ML. So we need the tools.

Sincerely, Sankaran. End.
