Off to the National Conference on Disabilities in DC / Bringing & taking your voices

Hello BayCHI.

Just a note to say that I'm going to TRY and blog about my adventures  
participating in this year's National Conference on Disabilities in  
Washington DC. The conference this year will be celebrating the 20th  
anniversary of the ADA and already there's a lot of noise and  
discussion bubbling up re technology and usability.

Thank you all for your notes, thoughts, etc. I'm taking them all with  
me and hope to bring back same.

About a week and a half ago, I went down to Oracle and checked out  
their "accessibility days" demos. Peter Korn (who has presented at  
BayCHI before ...some time ago, though) demo'd one very exciting tool  
and as it turns out, he's in DC right now and will be in DC next week  
likely participating in events related to the NCD and the anniversary.  
I "lobbied" to try and get him a seat at the tech discussion table  
during the conference. I don't think I'm much good at crashing parties  
let alone helping others crash a party though...

I can already see that the hottest topic re HCI and accessibility is  
the interpretation or mis-interpretation of 'usability' and  
'accessibility' - and everything in between not to mention, where is  
the boundary and how bloody is that edge...
