Beijing Telecom DNS Look Up -- frequent intermittent failure?

Hi all,

Got an annoying problem and was wondering if anyone had any ideas / solutions...

Got a home lan -- 2 Windows XP PCs and a Fedora Core 2 Linux box connected to
the Internet through Beijing telecom ADSL and a small home router (TP-Link
TL-R402M).

The Windows PCs can surf the Internet just fine ~ once in a while, it'll have
problems loading a page but not frequent -- perfectly acceptable.

The Linux PC on the other hand is driving me crazy.

Web sites pop up almost instantaneously using the IP address directly either
Firefox or Mozilla.

However, when I type in an URL address, the DNS lookup seems to hang / choke /
not work frequently.

Is there a DNS compantibility issue between Beijing Telecom and Linux?

Any ideas on how to make it work better?
