Off the record (speaking neither on behalf of RH nor of my employer) RH
has not articulated a specific comms or business strategy vis-a-vis local
distros.

But one of the things I have noticed in working for them is that their
approach is very much about building a big tent for Open Source: bringing
attention to Linux, demonstrating it is ready for prime time for both
enterprise and individuals, and focusing on the value of having a choice
when it comes to OS vendors. Get the audience to take Linux seriously
first.

With this approach their presence is bound to increase the level of
attention Linux gets among decisionmakers in China. IMHO this approach
will benefit all distros, local and foreign.

As an aside, clearly it would be way too easy for the Linux world to
devolve into a furball of battling distros. That would be a pity and it
would miss the point. We all know who the real enemy is.

Again, all my opinions.

David

hi, David,

do you happen to know any info about the strategy of RH regarding to
local linux vendors, such as Redflag? do they have any plan to
co-operate?
