I guess my points could be summed up as...

A> I don't really see any down-side to being a student org, and there 
are some benefits, but some folks who are affiliated with WVU are going 
to have to be willing to invest their time to keep it rolling.
B> Maybe we should aim for a night for any formal meetings or even 
informal gatherings that we schedule that is friendlier towards folks 
from out of town - Uniontown, Charleston, et al don't have LUG's of 
their own, but Wednesday night can be tough for folks to drive in and 
back if they have work or school on Wednesday and Thursday.
C> We should try to keep it close to downtown for formal stuff.  BW3, 
the Moose, and the WVU downtown campus are good choices.  Walking 
distance for the kiddies, central to the majority of us who live around 
town, etc etc.  This isn't to say that doing something elsewhere is a 
bad thing, I just think downtown is the most *inclusive* location for 
events.
D> Lets get some big name speakers.  Let's finally pay attention when we 
ask Craig about the WVU funds thing (We've all asked.  At least twice. 
He's answered.  None of us remember the facts about it.)  ;-)
If it is $600, we could possibly bring in a Schneier or a Gladman or 
Monty or somesuch.  If it's less, we could see about somebody from CERT 
driving down from Pittsburgh or something of that nature.

Finally, I don't feel that WVU student org status should really have any 
effect on non-WVU folks.  It's pretty transparent, other than that we 
can take advantage of the resources such as meeting space and funds.  As 
it stands, even if we collected enough to bring someone in to speak, we 
wouldn't have a decent reliable venue without WVU.
Derek mentioned some vendors may pay for their people to come speak, and 
that could be fun.  I had brought up the possibility of Craig 
registering us for O'Reilly's UG promo, which would get us all book 
discounts or something.  I'm a fan, and many of you probably are too, so 
that might be cool.
Well, anyone who wasn't there, go ahead and post your thoughts.  I'd 
really like to hear from as many of you as possible, and I'm sure Mike 
and Craig would, also.

I think that pretty much sums up my take on it, but of course there were 
other good ideas from other folks, as well.
