I'll be honest that I'm of a Github fan than other sites simply for the polished frontend product. I know on the backend, it's just git, but the graphical tools make it easy to compare pull requests, and just easier to work with. With that said, and the recent news of Microsoft taking over, I hope they have learned their lesson of trying to improve things and just let them (Github) go at their own pace. Not sure if this will happen but as many others have mentioned, it's not too difficult to move over projects from one hosting to another. I'm starting to use Bitbucket and Gitlab now, but it's more about just getting used to another hosting company vs disliking Microsoft. But having heard of some of their ideas with buying LinkedIn and other tools, I'm sure Github will make its way into Windows 10 Developer Edition as the default source code manager.
