By MDF you mean the place where the lines all come together in the switch, aka 
wiring closet, I presume?  At present I'm looking at putting that in the 
utility room with the furnace and water boiler since there should be plenty of 
space, although thinking about that now I'm wondering if that would be too 
warm.  Any recommendations?

I am not sure if the electrician is planning on putting in pipe or not.  My 
contractor didn't say.  The price he quoted was higher than I expected so he 
may be.  OTOH, I did map out 1-2 jacks per room for flexibility so that I can 
rearrange furniture later as the situation requires, so 12 lines total for the 
house.  I'm pretty sure I won't be exceeding any distance limitations as it's 
only a single family home.
