Maybe some ideas from the Coffee-HowTo and a solenoid to push the camera
button?  Then the resulting image could be moved off the camera to disk.  

Or hack the camera, so the butten is activated electronically...

If you can sort the actual taking of the picture, then the rest is a simple
shell script run from a cron job.
