The iPhone is exactly what you'd expect from Apple.
It's key features are it's clean and simple. But it doesn't just start
out that way, it truly IS clean and simple and there's nothing you can
do to change that.

Like most Apple products, if it doesn't do what you want it to do, too bad.

I bought a MacBook to learn MacOS and I can't stand the thing. Not
only is the interface irritating (and much buggier than I expected),
but the case is designed in such a way as to cut you if you rest your
forearms on it, unlike any other laptop I've encountered. And
occasionally you have to stick a business card in the optical drive
slot to force the disc to eject... but anyway.

I've got Ubuntu on the machine, but I'm having trouble getting my
wireless modem to work and I can' t switch over until then. After that
I'll be back here for help on recompiling the touch pad driver because
it has an issue with the pointer jumping a bit (which there is a fix
for), but it is beyond my present ability.

As far as phones go, I've got an N95 (came free on a plan) and while
the camera is, the speaker volume is great and I occasionally listen
to the radio on it, I wouldn't recommend it any further. I'm waiting
for a 3G OpenMoko, which will hopefully be out next year.
