No, the PC is just windows vista. No special hardware or software. The settings are controlled through windows media player, which undoubtedly has some widget running in the background to do the leg work, but does not need to be started by the user. (Set and forget.) I think anything with the latest windows media player will do it. I am yet to investigate LInux variants. As I said before, they don't have a smart TV, just network enabled.
