That is the idea. Timekeeper/MC would indicate start finish of speakers -
with aid of electronic schedule - which would automatically update
estimated completion time and allow for informed extensions of time by the
audience/rearrangement of schedule.though it (*) is only a prototype and
not even 99% complete (old programmers joke).

Bearing in mind the last SLUG meeting was a victim of its own
success - well done - excellent range of speakers and talks, we
don't want to loose the momentum. Here is the rest of my 5c worth.

For scheduling purposes - it is easier to include setup/changeover in
presentation time, if you leave your setup until your presentation - then
don't expect an extension!!!

Maybe we should allow 7 minutes/talk - 1-2 slides -with no more than
5 dotpoints each. My preferenence is for 5-7 minute lightning talks.

Meeting format Two halves (max 35minutes) with 20minute break = 6.30pm-8pm

It is a good idea for speakers to ensure their presentations work ahead of
their allotted time in the limelight- this testing needs to be done before
and between talks - unless ofcourse the setup is their presentation ;-).
Interoperability is not a trivial challenge.

On timing, Official time for SLUG meet seems to be 6pm-8pm - which seems
long enough and early enough to help Tim tidy up room before we leave.

If schedule is full - extension would be at discretion of a subsequent
speaker giving up their slot.

On Presentation Material

Let's not take our lead only from Corporate Conferences which require 
everything in Powerpoint. I think SLUG should continue to lean towards - 
"have a go at performing (with technology) for 5 (or maybe 10) minutes" bar 
camp approach.

I publish my "slides" as webpages, so, I whole heartedly agree with
providing slides ahead of time and using someone else's computer to do
presentation. However, if I do a GIMP demo, at a future SLUG meeting, it
would be easier to run this off  my own computer.
