Sigh…. I have been fighting that with various software development houses for a long time. Then they go on and change things naming them after years. So it goes from version 8.6 to version 2009. Then they think it is cute to add a 4th digit to the system. I suppose it is better than the 90s where every upgrade started adding a name, “turbo”, “pro”, “better than our sucky last version” to the software name. Could the mapping of OS versions just be an equivalence file (small) that is updated along with the self-update?
