I was thinking that since some install guides I was looking at detail
creating new directories for stuff, perhaps it might be easier to,
instead of creating empty directories, copy over the virtual maps and
alias information and such from the Postfix install, since it will be
useful to provide examples to work off of, and to benefit users who
want to migrate from Postfix to Sendmail.

Just a thought, perhaps its best just to provide end users a virgin
install of Sendmail.
