AquaTerm is not a dependency for gnuplot.

$ port deps gnuplot
gnuplot has library dependencies on:
         gd2
         jpeg
         pdflib
         libpng
         readline
         XFree86
         zlib

If you have installed gnuplot and did not install AquaTerm first,
then gnuplot will not work with AquaTerm (and you'll optimally use
Apple's X11 and an xterm to use gnuplot). To use gnuplot with
AquaTerm, assuming only the former is installed, execute the
following commands.

sudo port uninstall gnuplot
sudo port clean --all gnuplot
sudo port install aquaterm
sudo port install gnuplot

Upon successful completion of this, you will need to modify your
Terminal/xterm/whatever environment. I am assuming that you are using
Mac OS X 10.4 and that BASH is your shell interpreter (type echo
$SHELL at the prompt to verify that it equals /bin/bash). If you
haven't already, you will need to create a file in your home folder
named .profile (or .bash_profile). Within this file, add the
following lines.

export AQUATERM_REPORT_TIMING=1
export AQUATERM_PATH=/Applications/DarwinPorts/AquaTerm.app
export GNUTERMAPP=/Applications/DarwinPorts/AquaTerm.app
export GNUTERM=aqua

Now, if you open Terminal.app, type gnuplot, and then type plot sin
(x), AquaTerm should auto-launch and you should see a plot of the
sine of x with x E [-10,10]. If you have any further questions,
please feel free to ask. Good luck.
