have you ever actually run or used solaris? if not, please don't throw 
out that hoary old chestnut that it is "slowlaris". i'd wager that no 
more than one out of a hundred people who repeat that insult have any 
actual experience with solaris. perhaps back in 1995 it might have 
justified that characterization. it is by no stretch of the imagination 
accurate today.  Solaris is not bloated, it is lean, it is efficient. 
opensolaris is also free and open source, it's worth mentioning.

certainly, that's not to take anything away from the other two reasons, 
which are entirely valid.
