I did this to several NVRAM chips. http://www.squirrel.com/sun-nvram-hostid.faq.html#attach Tipp: The top most connection in the resin is +3 V. Disconnect it from the old battery, solder a wire to the remaining stub that goes down into the chip and solder that wire to the new battery. GND of the battery is the lower connection. It is a bit difficould to get to it through the resin. Just don't care about it and solder GND of the new battery to pin 12.
