No. I got socialised in the UseNet in 1992. At that time top posting,
like you do, resulted in an immediate flame war againt the top poster.
Top posting was a faux pas and was a serious disgrace to anyone who did
it. You outed yourself as a clueless newbie by top posting and you got
"corrected". Then Outlook hapened. It was programmed by people that
wheren't rooted in the Unix dominated UseNet culture. So they choose
poor defaults because they didn't know better. Inexperienced users
followed these defaults, thus the miss-habit of top posting spreed.
It doesn't mean it is correct, only because many people do it.
Top posting is impolite. And it will be for ever. Period.

A well knowen signature:
A: Because it fouls the order in which people normally read text.

RFC 791 is from 1981. It is still valid and in widespreed use.

Internet standard != culture. Also: Citing a RFC was more meant as a
joke. In real live you don't have RFCs for proper conduct.

TFT LCDs are always flicker free, regardless of the refresh rate of the
video signal.
