Can't help on the A. toumeyana var. whatever, I never heard of that
particular name or anything close to it.
As to A. pelona and A. ocahui, you are correct they can be difficult
without flowers. With flowers it is a snap, A. pelona blooms a deep wine
red, and A. ocahui is yellow. Most A. ocahui have brown to brown red
margins with virtually no white, most A. pelona have at least some white
along the margin. In addition, A. pelona generally is more upright, with
a long talon-like terminal spine and in some individuals the leaves have
a strong purple or dark caste. A. ocahui looks less like this with its
leaves usually a bit less glossy and bit flatter. But it can be
difficult with young plants. Hope that helps.
Mary
