Beckham waiting for Galaxy to OK offseason loan

LONDON LOS ANGELES — David Beckham is still waiting for  the Los Angeles 
Galaxy to approve a loan to a European club, with Tottenham  among the clubs 
eager to sign the former England captain. 
Beckham announced two weeks ago that he needed to keep playing during the  
winter to stay in contention for an England recall. But the Major League 
Soccer  club said Beckham wouldn't be allowed to go to Europe during the 
offseason and  it expected him back at the end of January to prepare for the 
season-opener on  March 15. 
The Galaxy's reluctance comes after Beckham injured an Achilles' tendon 
last  March while playing in the offseason for AC Milan. He missed the first 
six  months of the Galaxy season. 

Tottenham wants Beckham even if he would only play two months for the 
Premier  League club. 
"At the moment we are waiting on the decision of LA Galaxy with regards to 
a  loan move," Beckham's management company said in a statement. "The loan 
would be  a short one until the start of the MLS season. David would then 
return and play  a full season with the Galaxy. 
"Tottenham are one of many clubs who are interested but as yet we have not  
got into any detailed conversations as we are waiting on LA Galaxy's  
decision." 
While Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has already made clear his interest, 
 he has also told British media that "whether they will let him move I 
wouldn't  be sure — it's probably 50-50." 
Redknapp said Beckham singled out Spurs as the club he wanted to join after 
 the former Manchester United player talked with the manager's son, Jamie, 
who is  also a former England midfielder. 
But Jamie Redknapp said "there are too many obstacles" to a deal. 
Beckham, who is entering the final season of his five-year $32.5 million  
Galaxy contract, still hopes to return to Fabio Capello's England side. 
He made the last of his 115 international appearances against Belarus in  
October 2009 and missed last year's World Cup because of the foot injury. 
Beckham previously said the only Premier League team he would consider  
playing for was Manchester United, which he left in 2003 to join Real Madrid.  
Beckham's late grandfather Joseph West supported Tottenham, which hosts 
United  on Jan. 16.
