You might try tweaking the gearing for the track you are running.

Has anyone tried smaller (thinner)  tires?  I know it runs counter to what
most folks think about when racing bikes, but sometimes thinner tires work
better on some bikes.  Thinner tires are lighter than fat ones, especially
when considering that one pound rotating mass = four pounds static mass;
therefore, if you can shave 3 pounds off of each tire, you have the same
effect as taking 24lbs off of the bike.  Quicker spin-up (acceleration) and
quicker braking (although contact patch may be reduced or at least altered,
affecting traction...).
