I don't have a serial port on my laptop. I use the Radio Shack USB/Serial adapter and it works perfectly on my 250, 396 & 996. Just make sure you can load the drivers. Mine came on a 3.5 floppy and the store dude let me use one of their computers to copy it onto my thumb drive so I could load them. -- Sent from my Treo cell phone -- Joel R. I purchased a Uniden BC250D scanner and the PC cable does not match anything on my computer. The only serial type ports I have are a 15 pin female(monitor) and 16 pin female(unused) the cable for the scanner is a 9 pin female. So I guess I need a 15or16pin to 9pin male/male adapter. Is there such a thing? If there is no such thing has anyone tried a serial/USB converter? Can anyone recommend one that will work? Thanks in advance. Pat (Apopka, Fl) If you have come here to find out about the 250D you have come to the right place! In fact the discussion of the BC-250D and how it works is the only acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other than the BC-250D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members.. Yahoo! Groups Links .
