First of all, as discussed before on the list you need to go to Radio
Reference for your particular city\county and make sure you have *every*
frequency for that particular P-25 system entered *correctly* into *one*
bank with *no* other frequencies\data entered in to that particular bank.
For P-25 systems the banks are *dedicated* for that P-25 system whether the
system has 3 frequencies or 15 frequencies.

Below is how I used to program my BC296 (the 250 and 296 are very similar
radios) manually before I started using the Butel ARC250. *Note* the offset
and spacing are critical when programming manually!

Hope this helps.

OK then here's a not dumb question. Is there any indicator on the display to

signify that the scanner is looking for digital signals? Inside the manual
it
show a P25 icon and on the manual cover it show a frequency and APCO 25
displayed right in the middle. I have seen neither of those and when I
program
the channels I don't see either indication anywhere. I am still programing
manually with the manual. Brian

Roger,

You need to first re-enter all those frequencies you have listed
"Trunked frequencies" and not as "Conventional frequencies" if you have not
already done so.

*1. Turning on the Trunking Feature:*
1.) Menu button
2.) Scan Option
3.) Trunk
4.) Trunk Type
5.) On
6.) Type2/P25 UHF
7.) It's going to ask you about Base Config & you need to enter the
following info:*
*    1 2 Base: 482.0000  488.0000  Offset: 12.5  12.5  Spacing: 380  570
8.) There is only two sets of configurations, so just leave the third blank.

*2. Programming the trunked frequencies properly:*
1.) Menu button
2.) Scan Option
3.) Trunk
4.) Trunk Channel
5.) Frequency (this is where you want to re-enter *all* the frequencies &
not where you originally entered them as conventional frequencies.)
6.) Hint when prompted to enter an alpha tag for this frequency, don't just
leave it blank. The place you'll want to enter the alpha tag later will be
on the specific talk group.
Site Description Freqs 001 East Zone 482.3500 482.6250
482.6500 482.7875 482.9375 483.0250* 483.1250* 488.7000* 489.0750* 002 West

Mtn IR 482.3250 488.4000 488.4750 488.7250 488.8750 102 Bolinas Fire

IR 482.3500 482.6500 482.9375 483.1250 489.0750
7.) You'll know when you have programmed the frequencies in right, because
instead of seeing a "C" for Conventional next to every frequencies, you'll
see a "M" next to each frequency which signifies that you have properly
programmed a Motorola Trunked frequency in.

*3. Programming the talk groups:*
1.) Menu button
2.) Scan Option
3.) Trunk
4.) Talk Group
5.) Select the proper group to correlate with bank that you have all the
frequencies stored.
6.) Now you will store the 4 or 5 digit numbers know as the Decimal or DEC
number that you were asking about earlier.
