Not sure where to start with this one. They didn't go to rebanding, the system was rebanded. LOL Simply put they are on a lower split of frequencies. But its just terminology. Now with that said, if your not on the 396T list you should join. The reason I say this is there are a lot of helpful people on it, and some might even be in your area. For your scanner to work with the re-banded system it only needs the custom band plan put into effect. The software from arc is about 50 bucks, and with it you can upload the custom band plans for re-banded system. I should know, I am a proud owner of a BCD396T and a few months ago a system locally flipped the switch and all I had to do was update the frequencies, and upload the new band plan using the software. Actually, if memory serves me correctly, the software also allows a free 30 day trial, so at no cost to you, you can have your scanner up and running again in a short period of time. But I would recommend spending the few bucks to buy it and own a license key. It was a good investment on my part and makes updating it and programming so much easier. I am not sure why you would need to spend 150 bucks to have that done. Heck I would do it for 50. But if you were a buddy of mine and local to my area I would say hey friend let me help a fellow 396t owner or buy me a steak dinner. LOL but you get the point, I hope. Join the list, see if someone in the area can help you with the custom band plan, if no one offers up, see if someone will let you ship it to them or something. _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ken Weimer Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 8:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [UnidenBC250D] Re: Need help progaming I had the 250 with the digital card which totaled out at $500. The 250 could not be upgraded to support rebanding, which is why I went to the BCD396T. When my local agency went to rebanding, my BCD396T, even with firmware upgrading, became useless for my purposes. Unless I want to spring for another $150 to a programmer to have it programmed to work with rebanding. I got onto the 250 list by virture of having owned the 250 at one time. I have one and still use it. Do you know of an upgrade for the 250? This is the 250 list... No way a 250 costs $150 to program!
