Patrick, I completed the Uniden firmware upgrade as outlined by Uniden and received message to the effect that upgrade was succcessful. I am signed up on the 396T list and did receive a few suggestions which did not work out. I have tried three different programs: 1st, the ScanControl 7.1.0 which worked well with my 250, but not with the 396T. I then tried the trial version of ProScan 3.1.0....no success. Then ARC396Pro Demo Version. No success, although I was impressed with the ARC396 program. Appeared to get the frequencies in, but still zero reception....I did get infrequent skip signals from Arizona (I am in Conyers, Ga)...so I knew scanner was working. This all around August of last year. After a long day of work and then dealing with studies from a Online Distant Learning school (rela ted to my job) and getting behind on studies, I just didn't have the time to continue to deal with trying to program the 396T. It has gathered dust since August. A work acquaintance sent his 396T to a programmer (I believe Scanner Master) which cost him $150 to program for our local system. I told him I was determined to do my own programmming...but, to date, that has not happened. I do appreciate the interest yahoogroups has shown in helping me with this problem. Maybe in another month or so I will have time to get back into dealing with programming the 396T...meanwhile, back to my studies.
