Many thanks Clark,, I can pick up that adapter locally for about the same price and that should do the trick... hard enough programing this scanner with the laptop.. really hard to do by hand.

      That 15 pin connector is not a serial port, it's for a monitor.

If you have the serial cable that came with BCD 250 go here for an adapter 

USB cable.
