Ok did that and it took it now to see if success carries thru.  Thanks a bunch.  Have to go on the other computer to do same and where the adapter will be located.

Change the adapter port, go into your device manager on your computer within
control panel. Find ports, then USB to Serial dig down and select the port
you want. After complete you may have to unplug the adapter and plug it
back in but it will switch ports. This scanner and for that matter the new
ones don't know what port you plug them into as that is assigned by the
computer not the radio. You must set it in the control panel and device
manager on the PC.

Is there any way to change my 245 com port to com4? I bought a usb/serial
adapter and it is set for com4.
