Regarding SOE in France - they were in lots of other countries
too - M R D Foot's official history, SOE in France, is
outstanding.  There is a new edition, prepared for a French
translation, which I heard him talking about last year, which
fills in some gaps from earlier editions, but when he was talking
about it it was only available in French.

Similarly Hugh Verity's "We landed by moonlight" covers air
operations but, I think, only into France again, for all agencies
including SOE.

There are a number of official histories of other SOE country
sections - which I haven't read - and M R D Foot did, I think,
write a comprehensive history of the service - but I haven't read
that.

For perhaps too much detail you might look for a copy of "SOE
Syllabus" - a coverage of training based on the training
syllabus.  It was published by the PRO in, I think, 2001.

None, I suspect, will tell you much about crypto.

Ratcliff's "Delusions of intelligence" Cambridge University
Press, 2006, is an analysis by an American academic of why the
Germans never realised - or never really believed - that Enigma
was compromised - and a very good read too - though you may have
trouble finding it.
