Both are complementary: ODE works with free rigid bodies as defaults,
and these free bodies are then subjected to constraints when they
happen to be connected by a joint.  Orocos uses minimal DOF models, in
the sense that joints are the basic building blocks and the algorithms
are optimized for them.
