Re: VIA and Intel ITX boards

Hi Damian (& all),

Thank you for your take on my question.  Stephen's response brought up 
the energy consumption angle, which has led to my current interest in 
the new pico-sized EPIA P700, which may tweak my bit of a green streak.  
But that's not the point of this post.  The point is the following question:

Via has been making some moves to open source their drivers lately, it 
seems.  In your opinion (open to anyone, actually), could the MPEG-4  
performance improve, or is it something that can't get better?  Does VIA 
have any real hope of gaining support for their open sourcing 
initiative?  All I've actually got to work with is the tech-media's take 
(via Google), which isn't as informative as one might hope, and like 
many news media sources, perhaps a bit quick with the negative slant.  
The views of real people are helpful.
