While I appreciate both the time taken to follow up my problem and the anti-M$ remarks, I have not actually received any hint as to the cause of my problem or where on earth those messages have gotten to on my system. To repeat : I can tell evolution to "send/receive" and this is followed by a lot of activity on the ADSL indicating that data are going somewhere; the count on Sympatico goes down to zero, the count of messages being downloaded matches the number originally indicated by Bell, but WHERE ARE THE MESSAGES? I cannot find them anywhere : my InBox remains EMPTY and none of my other folders under "On this computer" show any signs of having stuff dumped into them. I simply cannot find those e-mails ANYWHERE yet they must be going SOMEWHERE. At the moment I am leaving them on the server until I can truly download them, print out any that I need to keep and delete them FROM MY SYSTEM. As before : any technical help will be MUCH appreciated. Thanks CroombeFP -- This e-mail produced entirely under Linux. Absolutely NO M$ products have been used. -- OCLUG general discussion list [email protected] http://oclug.on.ca/mailman/listinfo/oclug
