That is expressed in energy per unit time. A watt is exactly that unit, expressed in joules per second. It seems likely that something got scrambled in translation. Regardless, Jim Wilkins has, I think, expressed the solution: Keep the average temperature as low as possible to maximize the efficiency over the timescale of interest. Unless there's a known schedule for demand the only solution is to keep the water at the required temperature continuously. hth, bob prohaska ----------------------------------- After heating water to percolate with 900W my coffee pot drops to 47W (measured) to keep it warm. Those numbers weren't unreasonable as Wattage.
